Dear All Concerned Residents of Harrow,
As I am sure you have all heard in the news, by word of mouth or even a letter for the council, that our local sports centre is being destroyed and demolished; all for a block of poxy apartments. Did you know that, by knocking this sports centre down, the council are going to make a total of £4 million. What's worse is the fact that not a penny of this is going to be spent on us. A new sports centre is not being built, we still are not going to have a transport system and we are also not having the play area in our park redeveloped. So, where is this money going?
The answer to that question is: IN THE POCKETS OF THE COUNCILLORS TO SPEND ON CHAMPAGNE. That's right, not a penny to us. Is that really fair?
This demolition is not only going to affect regular sports people, it's going to affect the youngsters and the respected elders of our community. Recent statistics show that over a quarter of four year olds are now considered obese, nearly half of all the elderly suffer from diabetes and the life expectancy has dropped by five years. Imagine, this was with a sport centre. If several centres were knocked down around the country, who can say that your children will be alive at the age of 40. Something needs to be done and we, together as a community, are going to do it.
What has happened so far?
As I write today, the council are preparing letters to be sent to all residents, pre-ordering their expensive 'bubbly', preparing contracts whilst the developers are laughing in our faces whilst trying to 'plan' their new 'development'. In my eyes, this isn't a 'development', this is a cruel action.
Also, a team of dedicated web developers are currently designing a website where we can all come together and campaign against these horrid actions!
